By advancing solutions across programs and across sectors, Benefit Illinois is transforming the safety net to center around the needs of low-income people so that more Illinoisans receive the supports they need.
Some of our strategies are focused on strengthening individual programs. Others aim to improve how safety net programs work together.
Our solutions fall into three change levers: outreach, policy, and data and technology.
Outreach
Community organizations and government agencies can make it easier for people to learn what programs they qualify for, find help applying, and learn about program changes.
Policy
Illinois can leverage state policy choices to coordinate eligibility rules, simplify the application process, and streamline eligibility determination and verification.
